New To Yoga?

Here’s a checklist with everything you need to know before attending your first class.

  • Please show up early for class with a yoga mat, towel, and a large bottle of water.
  • Come well-hydrated and avoid large meals 2-3 hours before class.
  • Try not to drink too much water during class. Some classes involve poses (twists, inversions, forward bends) that can be uncomfortable to perform on a stomach full of water. It is better to fully hydrate before and after class.
  • No cell phones, purses, or large bags in the yoga room.
  • Please remove shoes prior to entering the yoga room.
  • Be mindful about perfumes and scented body lotions/sprays. Often, those in that yoga class with you are on the natural path, and the smell of commercial lotions and perfumes make some people sick (literally). Try to go au naturel, or if you really would like to smell better without being offensive, drop a dab of essential oil onto your wrists.
  • We recommend wearing light, snug-fitting clothing (nylon, lycra, or spandex).
  • If you need to take a break, try to stay in the room on your mat. If you have to step out during class, please do so quietly. We also understand that lateness happens. If you enter the yoga room after class has started, please enter and settle in quietly.
  • Listen to your body! We want you to feel challenged without feeling pain. We encourage you to work with your body to make gradual progress.
